CRACKING THE CODE
Cracking the Code is an activity that helps us understand what we read.
It helps us annotate, or mark up, our reading.
What other symbols or strategies can we use to annotate?
It helps us annotate, or mark up, our reading.
- When we understand something, we can write a checkmark (✔︎) to show our understanding.
- When we are confused or have questions, we can write a question mark (?) to show we are confuse
- When we think something is very important, we can write a star (☆) to remind us that it is important.

Rocks can form in three different ways. So geologists put rocks in three groups:
1) Igneous /IG-nee-us/
2) Sedimentary /SED-uh-MEN-ter-ee/
3) Metamorphic /met-uh-MOR-fik/

What is the rock cycle?
The rock cycle is the process through which rocks change into other rocks. For example, a metamorphic rock can become a sedimentary rock through erosion.
